Build-a-Bike Workshop Series by The WRENCH -> Tuesdays Recommended ages 14-16 Are you interested in learning valuable skills and gaining the confidence to tackle your bike repairs? Join us at The WRENCH for the Build-a-Bike workshop series, an engaging and hands-on extension of our flagship Earn-a-Bike youth education course. In this unique and comprehensive 16-hour program, divided into 8 weekly sessions of 2 hours each, you will work alongside our skilled bike mechanics. Snacks are provided. Our goal? To empower you with lifelong skills and self-confidence in bike repair and maintenance. What You'll Learn: - Familiarization with Bike Repair Tools & Techniques: Get to know the specific tools and techniques needed to work on bikes. - Understanding Bike Parts & Mechanical Systems: Learn about different parts and how they work together. - Basic Maintenance Skills: Master cleaning, lubrication, chain adjustments, and brake tuning. - Basic Repair Skills: Acquire skills such as tire tube patching, tire changes, and brake pad replacement. - Basic Tune-up Skills: Discover how to adjust front and rear hubs, bottom brackets, gears, and brakes. - Safety Knowledge: Learn the ins and outs of helmet fit, bike lights, best practices for locking your bike, and essential traffic skills. What You'll Receive: - Freshly serviced and safe bike (the one you have been working on!) - New u-lock - New bike safety lights - New helmet Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, the Build-a-Bike workshop series offers a practical approach to learning, guided by our experienced mechanics. At the end of the course, participants will have a refurbished bike of their own, along with the skills and knowledge to keep it running smoothly.
